What happens to a society when connections matter more than merit?
White Shirt is a thought-provoking story about the deeply rooted culture of sifarish—where admissions, jobs, opportunities, and positions are often secured not through talent or hard work, but through influence and powerful connections.

A white shirt may look clean from the outside, but beneath the surface, a system built on favouritism slowly becomes stained. When the deserving are repeatedly pushed aside while the well-connected move ahead, young people lose faith in merit, institutions lose credibility, and society begins to rot from within.

Sifarish may appear to benefit the privileged in the short term. But its consequences spread far beyond the individual. When talent is denied opportunity, capable young people become frustrated or leave; institutions become weaker; productivity suffers; and the foundations of the economy and society gradually erode.

Through an everyday story, White Shirt asks a simple but uncomfortable question:

What kind of future are we creating when a person's connections matter more than their capability?

Set against the familiar reality of South Asian societies, the story reflects on a culture that many people encounter but few question—and reminds us that a society cannot prosper when merit is continuously sacrificed for influence.

White Shirt is ultimately a story about merit, opportunity, corruption of institutions, and the price a society pays when privilege replaces fairness.
